Spending some of his first years in District Four happened to make a large impression on the peacekeeper. It was the light color of the hair. It was shiny in the sunlight and it matched his own. It was intriguing. It was nearly impossible to find the golden locks when he had been working in Six. However, he had been moved to Eight. There were a few in Eight. Rare, but at least some. And that was the initial reason why Paige had caught his eye.

Drusus had been stalking for some time. He always canvased his beloveds. He watched them and bumped into them. That was all before he started to intimidate them or charm them. Which avenue he went always depended on what kind of fight he was offered in the first place. It wasn't like he was an ugly man on the outside.

With Paige, he had learned, there was something far easier to toy with her. She had a daughter who suffered from a heart condition. That was easy enough to feign knowing about a solution. He was from the Capitol and they could do things, make things that the district citizens hadn't a clue. But, he wanted what he wanted... he hadn't even met the little girl when he showed up at the door that night.

His hand was heavy and he was still in his Peacekeeper uniform when he showed. It was almost as though he was there on official business. This was anything but official. The uniform was more for anonymity as the mask covered his face. For now.

Sateen was innocently playing with her doll in the living room. She was a pale, small child who always seemed to have dark circles under her eyes, even if she slept well. Her parents said it was poor circulation due to her heart condition. She didn’t really understand it, but it never bothered her either. She was a happy child, content to just be in the company of her parents and to play with her doll. She was oblivious to the cruelty of the world and how poor her family was. Sateen only knew she was sick and because of it she was always kept sheltered and calm, never allowed to run outside like the other kids and usually stuck playing by herself, singing with her mother or playing make believe with her father.

Sateen didn’t know the lengths her parents had been trying to go through to get her a new heart or to find a cure for her damaged one. She didn’t even know the extent of her condition or that it could kill her. She was young and oblivious to it all.

That is why when there was a knock at the door, the little girl got up to answer it without thinking twice. She was too trusting at this age, as she had yet to see the world for what it was. That is also why when she opened it, she looked up at the peacekeeper curiously, not even knowing that peacekeepers usually meant trouble. She’d never seen one before.

“Hi! Can I help you?” Sateen had been taught manners and she spoke in a very innocent and polite tone, smiling up at the peacekeeper standing on the other side of the door. She wore a pretty dress her father had made for her at work, spending extra-unpaid hours to do. Her long blond hair was braided down her back and her dark eyes looked at the man with pure innocent, curiosity. “I like your hat.” She said, having never seen such a visor, not knowing the meaning of any of this, just making polite small talk, as she waited to find out why he was here.

In some wonderous fate, the girl was the one who answered the door. The one he had heard so much about. He may have been stalking the mother, but he had bumped into the father and offered some help. It was more trying to figure out a way to bump him off. But, there was an easier way to get to the beautiful blonde. There was the ailing daughter and all the promises in the world he was going to be able to bestow. Or ... what he said he was going to.

He pulled the mask from his face and held the helmet loosely in his hand. Those dark eyes were focused as he knelt with that sly mischevious grin. Drusus had the whole trying to look innocent down pat. Even when he was the definition of true evil. But, if he always looked menacing - no one would ever trust him. He was smarter than anyone couldn't believe.

"Why, thank you. You are very pretty. Such beautiful hair." He looked past her for a moment to see if they might be just inside the door of the home. Dru's attention was soon back on her. "Is your mother or father home?" He had it all planned in his head. He was done waiting. And they would do what he wanted... if they knew what was good for them. Dru always got what he wanted.

Sateen had never seen a peacekeeper up close. Despite her illness, her parents had shielded her from them, keeping her out of trouble and trying to stay under the radar, aside from working hard to find a way to get her healed, to help her. The little girl was amazed by the white uniform and helmet. She was awestruck in a way and it wasn't until he took the helmet off that she even realized that there was a peacekeeper at their door.

Then, he was kneeling down and addressing her and the little girl felt herself blush, getting a bit shy and hugging her doll close to her chest, as if it could hide her. "Thank you, sir." She said, politely, her voice lowering to almost a whisper. She wasn't really sure how to react. She'd never really been called beautiful before. Most people never did that. Most people were too intent on the fact she was sick and could die. She had a hard time making friends because of it. She was out sick a lot. She was inconsistently attending school. She was the "ghost" kid, the one who was too pale compared to the others and who disappeared when it came time for activities she could not do because of her heart condition.

Sateen nodded when he asked about her parents. They were both home. "Both of them are home." She told the man, once more speaking in a tiny, shy little voice. She didn't know this man and it was only now she was remembering her parents asking her not to talk to strangers. Still, this wasn't any stranger, this was a peacekeeper and she had learned in her first five years of life that peacekeepers were to be both feared and respected. They could help or they could hurt depending on what a person did. She didn't want to upset one.
